REMEMBER HIM???

Search deep into your brain and pull up your Katrina Archives....... do you guys remember the night we were down on the street corner by the Hampton trying to figure out what the hell we were going to do next? Remember the guy that was coming down Convention Center Blvd in the very large truck and it seemed like everybody suddenly had a large light bulb hovering above their heads? Remember how a couple of people stepped into the street to stop the guy and once he stopped, we talked to him and he said he would bring us wherever we wanted to go, but in the end, none of us left with him? WELLLLLLL........ I just happened to be reading last Sunday's paper, and there in the Living section was this huge write up about a guy named Paul Guerra (no relation to me) who used his big truck to rescue tons of people who were stranded right after the storm. I thought to myself, another hero.....good job! I continued to read and on the second page of the article, he mentioned about how he had so many memorable things happen to him and he goes on to say how on one night, he was driving down Con. Ctr. Blvd and he ran across a group of EMT's..."there must have been 100 of them". He said that they were in town for a meeting before the hurricane. I guess he thought we were all down here for the EMS Expo. Anyway, he said that one of the EMT's who stopped him had an M-16, and that he knew he better stop because his shotgun was no challenge against an M-16. I thought that was kind of funny. Anyway, go read the whole article. He makes a couple of references to EMT's, and the whole story is actually rather heartwarming.

I wish.

I think I saw an article awhile back about the folks that took Saussy and the others to get our Dome people out. Ya know, right after they told us all to stick together.

It was the military who took myself, jullette, mark, laura russell and chris guenard down as close as they could get us to the dome. It was my idea to go down there because somebody had just come over the radio and said the dome was no longer safe so I said I was going down there because not only was my other half in there, but so was all the rest of my EMS family. I told them that I was going no matter whether I had to go alone or not, and they came with me.

Yeah of course I remember this guy. And he would have gladly taken all of us across the bridge, but someone...put a nix on it. I know who I'm just not saying.
